The 2025-26 Olentangy Braves Hockey season has officially come to a close, the boys finished their season with a record of 14-17-1, and finished with a top 20 rank in the state. The team this year was led by captains Reed VanRiper, Donovan Roen and Lucas Robertson. Along with other seniors, Parker Schlade, Landon Wilkie, Zane Williams and Zach Spellman. And although this year’s season got cut short, the team still has a lot to walk away proud of from this season.

Roen led the team this season with 22 goals out of the 72 put up all season. Elijah Wyse and Lucas Robertson followed with 12 and 9. Roen also led the team in assists this year, with 18. His accomplishments led him to win the Columbus Dispatch Regular Season Player of the Year. Juniors Wyse and Robertson also followed behind with successful years, and have 21 and 20 points to round off their third years.

“I think this year went pretty good.” Max Everest ‘27 said. “It was filled with a bunch of ups and downs but it was definitely my favorite season yet, and you know I can’t wait to play one last season.”

This season was filled with ups and downs throughout, as they had an 8-game losing streak throughout December, but picked up a 6-game win streak to get back on track and keep their season alive. The remainder of the season just went back and forth, with the teams bouncing back and forth from good wins, and tough losses. One of the biggest wins that the Braves picked up this season came in December, when they took down St. Charles, the second ranked team in the nation, and seventh in the country, 1-0, which handed them their only conference loss of the season. The Braves were also able to finish ranked 18th in Ohio, and 6th in Columbus, due to their impressive strength of schedule, which was one of the best in state.

And although the season didn’t quite end how the Braves wanted it, the team made memories to last a lifetime along with a couple of wins.
