The Brave’s Swim Team enters the new season with confidence, focus and high goals for the season. Both new swimmers and veteran swimmers want to work towards their goals and achieve major growth in their development.
Senior Eddie Campion hopes to qualify for the state finals after he placed in the B final last year. “I am excited to make new memories with the new and old swimmers of the team,” Campion said. Last year I qualified for the B final, but this year I believe I can do it.”
For Campion, the 500 freestyle stands out as his top event. He views it both as a challenge and a chance to set a new record. “I like the 500 because I can pace myself and it is not a very common event,” Campion said.
“We blast music on the way to hype each other up.” Lyla Fette’28 said. “My favorite part of the swim season is our holiday party and pasta parties. “It is a great opportunity to get to know everyone, especially since the team is so big,” Fette said.
Both swimmers began at a young age and attribute their development to years spent in the water. Campion spent about 13 years in the sport and said he has seen growth with each season, especially after the move of the teams while COVID. Lyla began at age 8 and said her confidence has grown with each meet.
The high school swim team is prepared to take on another season full of effort, concentration, and new memories with a strong sense of unity and goals.
