Boys lacrosse is a fast-paced, high-energy team sport with strategy, speed, and physicality. The boys lacrosse team is 7-8 overall, and they are 9th in the conference with a record of 5-4. The lacrosse team had a big 15-7 win against Dublin Scioto on May 1st. This game was a spark of energy for the lacrosse team that led them to a 15-5 win against Archbishop Moeller on May 3rd.
“This season we’ve been playing very well; however, we’re a little shaky during the middle of the season. The team practiced very hard and got out of this hole and we’re back on a win streak. My goal for the rest of the season is to get as many wins as possible,” starting defensive middie ‘27 Elijah Wyse said.
On May 6, the boys fought hard to win their game against Berlin with a score of 12-8. This team battles against teams until the end and never fails to give their all. It’s not always the score which reflects how well the game was played.
“So far the season has had its ups and downs. I think that for some games we could’ve played better and gotten a few more wins. For the rest of the season our team hopes to get as many wins as possible and make it far in the tournament,” Captain ‘25 Alex Kuri said.
This year, the lacrosse team has 10 seniors. Some seniors who plan to continue their careers in college are Logan Pinkerton and Alex Kuri. Pinkerton has played Lacrosse for 12 years and knows high school will not be the last time out on the field, as he plans to attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville and Kuri plans to play at Robert Morris University.
“This season I have improved a lot and continue to every practice. My team is very determined to win as many games as possible, especially for all the seniors who are leaving after this season,” starting defensive man ‘27 Jake Redin said.
This coming Saturday, May 10, the boys have a home game against New Albany. They are ready to come out strong and continue their winning streak. The night before each game, they have a team meal hosted at someone in the team’s house. This allows them to connect as a team off the field and get to know each other more. It is important to have a strong bond with teammates because it builds trust, improves communication and enhances collaboration. This team is always supportive of one another and helps coach each other on and off the field.
