Senior year is full of memories and final moments; however, it’s also full of busy days and college applications. Therefore, it is important to balance your senior year with fun and easy courses. From film to forensics, Olentangy has tons of classes which are perfect for seniors.

Early and Late Periods

Yes, this is not a class, but we all want to sleep in or get out early. Those 45 minutes could be used to do college applications, sleep or hang out with friends. Students can also use this time to take college classes or study for hard classes. It’s important to know your limits, so if you need time off, take time off!

“Having late arrivals in senior year is actually my life saver, having a two-hour delay every day is so amazing because I have time to get ready, get homework done, actually make breakfast, and do things. It makes me feel like school is not my entire life, and that is a gift in itself,” Connor Roy ‘26 said.

Literature as Film

This class is more than movies; it’s a chance to learn about film and media. The class teaches students the basics of film through notes, class discussion, papers and of course movies. Fan-favorite teachers Micah Conley and Erin Centa teach the course, which is one of the many reasons to take it.

“I would say it’s a great class for seniors because it blends with meaningful uplevel skills; however, it makes it less rigorous. A lot of students find it a nice break day in their day as they learn, but in a less conventional way,” Conley said.

Performance Ensemble

Have you taken a theatre class in your time at Tangy, and want to expand your knowledge? Well, you should take Performance Ensemble. The course teaches you advanced acting techniques and technical skills through practices, papers, notes and a final capstone performance.

Most students are drawn to the class because of the final performance the students put on. Last year was the first year of the course, and the students put on a high-paced comedy; this year, the students plan to put on a slow and personal drama-comedy. The class is student-driven as they choose what they want to do and grow in.

Forensic and Genetics

Need one more science credit, but do not want to take an AP? Well, take a look at forensic and genetics. The course is hands-on and creative, while you learn about crimes, DNA, and psychology. Students also love the no test policy, as you can have a creative final assessment for each unit, a midterm and a final.

“Forensics is a super fun class that connects to many different disciplines of science ,including biology, chemistry, and psychology. Overall, it’s very interesting and engaging, especially if you like to learn with hands-on projects, ” Evie Hawk ‘26 said.

Weight Lifting

Do you want a class which is a daily workout? Weight lifting is the perfect class for future college athletes or people who want to work on their strength. The class gives you a daily workout while you get high school credits. The class is great for student athletes who need a class to still play sports.
