Welcome back! This week I wanted to take a moment to talk about sombr’s newest hit: “Homewrecker.” The song was promoted in late Jan. and was dropped on Feb. 5, 2026. The song was a quick hit with its fun, but meaningful lyrics. I found the story of the song so interesting. 

The song starts with very basic pop vocals, but quickly leads into somber’s skills. The sudden switch on the line “Do you got plans for life? ‘Cause I don’t wanna just romance tonight,” makes the lyric hit more. Then it changes again on another hard hitting lyric: “I don’t want to talk down on your lover.” I think the changes in tempo and vocal difference make this song catchy but different. 

When I first heard the name of the song I thought I was getting into something about wanting to be a homewrecker or I am a homewrecker; however, instead it is a beautiful song I wanted what is best for who you love. It’s all about knowing who you love, and what is best for them. Overall, I would rate this song a ⅗ as while it is good, its very basic. I feel like sombr did not try something new, it was the same old basic pop boy. Which is fine, but over done.
