As the new year begins, the Keynotes and Shenotes get ready for competition. They have a full performance schedule that starts in Marion on February 4, 2026. Their hard work throughout the year has been immense, with long hours, rehearsals and practice. These behind-the-scenes efforts are unknown to us as the audience.
The after-school practices are long and intense as they learn choreography, logistics, and the music. On a normal school week, they practice twice after school, even with their 45-minute class period. During the weeks they are with their choreographer, they practice every single day. Their rehearsal time can get up to 10 hours a week.
“It’s a whole lot of cardio when our choreographer is here for the week, but it always pays off when we finally are performing for everyone,” Kayden Greco ‘26, Keynotes soloist, said.

This is what makes the show possible. With their dedication, they come together, stay flexible and put effort towards the Show choir.
“It took a lot of teamwork behind the scenes to make the show happen, and a lot of flexibility.” Connor Roy ‘26, Keynotes performer at OHS said.
The Keynotes this year are to perform an 80s-themed show with retro and arcade vibes. While the Shenotes are going to focus on a calm and a more story-based piece all about growth.
The “Pinball Wizard” is a popular 80s song which is a fast-paced, high-energy rock piece. This music is catchy, rhythmic and bold. The show also balances classics with “The Winner Takes It All” and new songs like “Acrade.”
“The Shenotes show is about flowers and growing up with your best friends!” Greco said.
This piece is emotional and heartwarming to watch. The design and music are inspired by the iconic musical “Little Shop of Horrors.” It uses fun props and costume elements to create an immersive show.
The team will head to Marion this weekend for their first competition. The dancers are ready to hit the stage, and show who the winner is. Follow them @OHSKeynotes to see score updates.
