The viral six-seven meme was introduced by a rapper named Skrilla. His song “Doot Doot” mentions six-seven 18 times, which blew up on TikTok. The main reason why the meme six-seven became famous is because LaMelo Ball, a basketball player who got edited to this song when a commentator mentioned “even though Ball is six feet and seven inches, he plays as if he is six feet one inches.”

Six-seven has consumed all our lives. To hear it at least six to seven times every day can be funny for some, and horrible for others. Any time someone mentions the number 6, a person’s automatic thought is to say “six-seven” with the hand motion which goes along with it. When the meme first blew up, the jokes were hilarious, now they are repetitive, but some people think it’s still funny.

“I think 6-7 is hilarious. It started as a trend and once people started saying it regularly it got stuck in my head,” said sophomore Mirdulaa Rajagopalan.

This trend has been going on for more than six to seven months and it’s not about to stop anytime soon. Most adults don’t understand the concept of six-seven and even if they do, it perhaps took them six to seven business days to learn what it means.

“I truly am not sure about the 6-7 trend.  It seems like something silly students say from social media slash TikTok,” said counselor Whitney Hamilton. ”My understanding is that it was in reference to a famous basketball player, and now it has become something students say often, but mainly to be silly”.

“6-7 is just a click farming thing you know,” Brody Billiter ‘27 said.”It’s just super funny”.

This trend has impacted everyone in some sort of way, whether it be laughing their butt off or getting annoyed.
