The heart of ‘Tangy Fusion is not just about the dance steps; it’s about the culture, community and connections. The club brings together students who all share a passion for Indian dance or those curious to learn. ‘Tangy Fusion creates a space where tradition and style combine with the vibrant Indian culture.

‘Tangy Fusion was founded by alumni Ayushi Taneja and Hamsika Tummala. They wanted to create an environment which our school had not seen yet. The program was at first the OHS Bhangra club, but she wanted to revamp the club to include more forms of dance. They started the group to showcase the beauty and variety of Indian culture and dance.

“I started ‘Tangy Fusion because I was unable to find groups or entities in my community that kind of showed the culture of Indian dance,” Co-founder Ayushi Taneja said

In our school, we have a wide variety of clubs and activities to show and care for different cultures and ethnicities, but until ‘Tangy fusion, there weren’t any direct clubs to show Indian heritage and culture.

“Now there were dance teachers around me that taught classical and Bollywood dance, but there was no group that kind of thought of everything, so I wanted to integrate types of Indian dance together, and that’s how I decided to start this team,” Taneja said.

She laid the groundwork for an environment which brings together multiple forms of Indian dance in one club. Creates a welcome space for all students to blend traditions, which, in general, are separated.

“I enjoy ‘Tangy Fusion mainly because I feel that expressing my culture is really important, especially through dance, which is something I’ve enjoyed since I was younger and still do. ‘Tangy Fusion gives me and so many others the opportunity to express my cultural values at school while having fun,” Sophomore Netanya Kupari said.

One of Kupari’s favorite clubs is ‘Tangy fusion. She loves how it makes her feel close to her culture and includes an art which she loves. She has danced since she was young and has grown as a dancer. Netanya has performed at various events to express her culture as she learns in different programs.

“I hope our performances show our audiences how culture can bring a group of young people together,” President Nithya Kosike ‘26 said.

The club overall hopes that the performances cultivate the culture throughout. Kosike hopes ‘Tangy Fusion can inspire more young people to get involved and appreciate the culture. The club is meant to unite people and get students to associate with the culture more.

“I want people to gain a passion for performing and showcasing culture,” Kosike ‘26 said.

Kosike has a wide passion for dance and loves being able to choreograph. She has participated in a wide variety of dances with ‘Tangy Fusion’ and outside of the program. She hopes the club excels well and gets to have multiple opportunities to show their talent.
