This week the student council has put together five days of fun spirit themes to build up the hype for prom on April 12. Each day aligns with the overall theme: Mediterranean Nights, inspired by the popular film, “Mamma Mia!”.
“The spirit week is a way for students to get decked out and show how much they love their school,” Bella Starr ‘26 said.
To begin the week, wake up to the sunrise on Monday. This calls for comfy clothes, slippers, pajamas and all things cozy for the start of the countdown to prom.
The next day is as bright as the sun, Tuesday is neon. Stand out in bright colors and vibrant outfits. Students could wear monochrome neon colors, one piece of neon clothing or incorporate it into accessories.
Wednesday is halfway to the big day. It is also where the school will be split into two: Surfer vs. Bikers. The surfers will ride the waves with summer clothes, sunglasses and flip flops. The bikers can be found in leather jackets, boots, slick backs, and reds and blacks.
T-minus two days until students dance the night away. Thursday is here we go again. Each grade is assigned a decade to dress up as! Freshman will rep the 70’s with bell-bottoms, bright colors and maxi dresses. Sophomores take on the 80’s with bold colors, graphic tees and denim dominant this decade. Next, Juniors jump back to the 90’s with hip-hop style, minimalism and chokers. And seniors tackle the 2000’s with low-rise jeans, brand logos and chunky jewelry. This is a delightful way to take a blast to the past.
“Decades day is my favorite because we get to do something and notice all the grades,” Elaina Scott ‘25 said.
At the end of the week Friday is sunset soiree. A soiree is an evening party or gathering, in a private house, for conversation or music. This means students can dress fancy and wear dresses, khakis, button-ups and skirts. This day will also hold a pep rally.
Overall, this Spirit Week promises to be an unforgettable lead-up to prom, with each day to offer a unique way for students to get involved and show off their school pride. From cozy mornings to neon afternoons, iconic decades, and a stylish soiree, there’s something for all people to enjoy. The creativity behind each theme is sure to make this week memorable, and perfect hype for the Mediterranean Nights-inspired prom. As the countdown to April 12 continues, Spirit Week will no doubt bring students together, celebrate their school spirit, and set the stage for an incredible prom night!
