Throughout December the musical arts programs hosted their winter concerts. Each musical program has a different theme to their concert along with various groups from their programs being featured.
On Wednesday, Dec. 4, the Chamber Orchestra and Sinfonia performed their winter concert directed by Michelle Beck, and the Prelude Orchestra and Concert Orchestra performed on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Both performed holiday selections as well as traditional orchestral literature.
“We have invited Shanahan Middle School 8th graders to join us as well as any interested 8th-grade students from Liberty Middle School who will attend OHS next year,” Beck said.
Beck is excited to welcome new students to the orchestra program next year. At the end of the orchestra’s concert, they performed two combined pieces with over 100 students together on stage.
On Monday, Dec. 9, the Concert Choir performed their show, “Songs of the Seasons” directed by Tim Smith. The concert was performed by Treble, Advanced Treble, Bass Chorus and Chamber Choir.
“My favorite song to perform was ‘The Sleigh’ because of its high tempo and fun lyrics,” Concert Choir president Ava Kline ‘25 said.
The Chamber Choir, which is a combined choir group of sopranos, altos, tenors and baritones performed multiple songs. The Chamber Choir showed off their talent throughout all of their songs as did all of the other concert choir groups.
On Tuesday, Dec. 10, the band performed their show, “Christmas Reindeer Adventures” directed by Ian Brun. All of the concert bands performed at this show.
“Phantom Herd was my favorite to play because I enjoyed playing the repeated patterns and the story behind the song,” alto saxophone player Catey Whalen ‘27 said.
Each of the groups performed their hearts out to create their wonderful concerts. Make sure to catch them at their next performances!
