In the spirit of 80s movie “Back to the Future” Nike has recently unveiled a new line of self-lacing shoes.

According to inverse.com the new high tech sneakers will be faulty. The website explains that the bow tie pattern is the most efficient way to tie shoelaces. Projected sales of the new Nike shoe are low but the crowd is excited for the new release of technologically advanced shoes that replicate Marty McFly’s adventures through time and space.

“They seem like they would be revolutionary” Cameron Casto ‘19 said.

Other students think differently.

“What’s the need for self tying shoes?” Katie King ‘17 said.

As for what the company has to say about the new product; “This is a whole new brand of shoes being given to the market and a new step in innovation for shoe technology.” Nike said.

As for more in depth specifications of Nike’s HyperAdapt technology, according to theverge.com each shoe has an internal cable system made from fishing line and a pressure sensor in the sole. LEDs provide indications for when the shoes are tightening, have low battery as well as providing a magnetic clip on charger similar to the Apple Watch. It’s also worth noting the nylon laces only provide a “visual aid”.

The shoes will officially be going on sale Nov 28 in retail stores worldwide, according to Nike.com
