On Feb. 8, the Gymnastics team became the 2025 OCC’s Cardinal division champs. They scored a season high of 141.625 and dominated the top five placements. Senior Aubree Norbuta placed fourth on vault, second on bars, fifth on floor and second overall. Sophomore Audrey Sprouse placed fifth on bars, first in beam, second on floor and third all around. And senior Ava Kline placed fourth on beams, first on floor, and fourth overall.
“This season has gone really well for us so far. We really have been working hard all season so we can go out and win all of our meets. We’ve only lost 2 meets this season thanks to that work,” Kline said. “Personally, I loved OCCs where we took home the championship with a season high team score of 141.625.”
Last year, the Columbus Dispatch said athletes Paige Chen ‘26, Norbuta and Sprouse were named some of the best gymnasts in central Ohio.
“This season has been great. We had a rough start in the beginning but then picked it up towards the end,” Sprouse said.
Norbuta is in her fourth year of gymnastics for the Braves. At the Berlin meet on Feb. 13, she broke her own school All Around record. She beat her old record of 36.35 and she scored a 36.4 last Thursday.
“We started off kind of rocky but now are hitting more consistently and have scored the highest team score in the district so far this year,” Norbuta said.
But the season is not over yet, with the approach of district championship the team has to work towards the future.
“Our goals moving forward is to have everyone healthy enough to hit all of our routines and to break our school team score record, and get above a 144,” Kline said.
With a fantastic season thus far, there are hopes for a gymnastics state championship trophy to make its way into the hands of the team. Districts will be held at Worthington Kilbourne on Saturday, Feb. 22.
