Every fall the roles switch as football players take on the role of coaching and girls take the field. Powder Puff is an annual charity event hosted by DECA where students from each grade level participate in flag football. The games will be on Monday, Nov. 4. Three games will be played with the seniors against freshman and the sophomores against juniors to see which grade levels will play in the championship.
“I love being able to see my friends in the stands and practices are so fun,” sophomore Izzie Guagenti said.
The game will take place at the football stadium. The first game is at 6:30 p.m. and will continue until the final game at 8:30 p.m. The teams will consist of students from each grade level who signed up in the Wigwam before Oct. 22. Tickets to the game are $5 per person and will be sold at the gate.
“The money for powderpuff is going to the annual Ohio MDA Camp,” senior Grace Nelson said.
Nelson is a part of DECA, the class that hosts this annual fundraiser. This year the profits will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Their camp is a way for kids with neuromuscular disease to find new interests and meet others. Neuromuscular disease is a genetic disease which often begins at childhood, starts with weakness in muscles, and then leads to a significant loss in muscle mass. The camp is free of cost to all families and supported by events like this which are fortunate enough to donate money to make the best possible experience for campers.
