The killer reboot of the 1988 dark fantasy Beetlejuice has slammed up the charts as it stars original actors like the one and only Micheal Keaton, Winona Ryder and last but not least Catherine O’Hare. I had the chance to go watch the new “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” movie in theaters and overall, the movie was terrific and brought back the vibe we got from the original. Factors like plot, character and climax all pulled together to make this gem.
I have rated “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” on three factors: originality, characters and plot. The first factor I rated this movie on was originality. The first movie was a Halloween classic and would be quite hard to follow up. “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” was a follow up, with old facts like characters or certain locations, and new characters and different locations to freshen up the plot.
Next, I rated the characters. These are the people who make the plot; make the story line work. Characters like Beetlejuice, Lydia and Delia all came back from the reboot; however, Tim Burton added new and improved characters like Lydia’s daughter, Astrid. Even though all the cast is older, they did not fail with their energy or effort put into the production. Micheal Keaton came back and gave a terrific performance. Nobody could ask him for a more superb performance. As for the rest of the cast, they all put blood, sweat and tears into this movie.
Last but not least, I rated the plot. The plot is what makes the story go. It is what makes the movie, the movie. The plot of the original movie was dark but humorous and the same goes for the second. With dark and high heart rate moments, it ties the humor in, thanks to Michael. The climax of the story made people in the theaters jump. “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is a movie you do not want to miss. It is the perfect movie for Halloween. Burton created a masterpiece which nobody can top. I would not be shocked if this reboot hits charts and sooner than later, maybe even earns awards. Go see it in theaters now. Just do not say his name three times, please.
