On Sept. 8, 2023, the Braves Boys Soccer team took home their seventh consecutive win of the regular season. Against rivals Olentangy Liberty, the Braves ended the game with their second goal which changed the score to 2-1. Nick Piontkowski ‘25 scored the first goal with the second scored by Christos Zenios ‘24.
“We played one of our best games together as a team. I think that game really took everyone to the next level, and we are only going to keep getting better,” Piontkowski said.
The Braves showed their commitment to the season despite multiple injuries from players on the Varsity team. With several players out, the team lost a majority of their players. Liam McClen ‘24 was one of two goalies on the team and had been injured for three weeks with little information as to when he would return to the game.
“When I am healed, I hope to get back on the field competing with my teammates and help the team make a run in the playoffs,” McClen said.
Despite the long recovery for McClen, he still showed his support for his fellow teammates. The Braves put on another win which now made them the team with the highest streak in the district.
“This win helped the boys to believe in each other in playing an unselfish brand of soccer. However, we are not done and cannot be satisfied with what we’ve done when we have big goals that the boys have set in front of us,” Coach Hamrick said.
